When forming and concreting walls the use of formwork anchors is usually inevitable. Reason: when filling fresh concrete into the formwork it will exert pressure on the formwork. Formwork anchors connect the formwork elements with each other and ensure that the pressure exerted on the wall formwork by the fresh concrete is removed.
The core element of such an anchor is the steel tie bar. This bar is a threaded steel rod responsible for the required pressure relief. The steel tie bar is usually placed in an empty pipe, the so-called cladding tube. The advantage is that the steel tie bar can be removed from the formwork and be reused several times. When removing the steel tie bar conical openings are left in the cladding tube. Such an opening is called tie point.
Tie point sealing with sealing rings and plugs from WEBAC
Tie points pose a high risk especially in buildings exposed to hydrostatic pressure. In this case, tie point sealants must be used to ensure that the intersections are absolutely watertight. WEBAC offers swellable sealing rings and plugs for waterproofing tie points. These are suitable for sealing tie points in concrete and reinforced concrete construction.
For exterior sealing purposes, the WEBAC® Flange or WEBAC® Ring is mounted onto the plastic pipe or fiber-reinforced cement pipe during the formwork. For interior sealing purposes, the plugs are knocked into the pipe with a hammer following the formwork.
