Sealing of Joints
Sealing of construction joints and expansion joints in structural and civil engineering
In the construction industry, joints in buildings are planned in such a way that they compensate for stresses, thereby preventing cracks. For these expansion and movement joints, it is important that the material used to seal the joints can absorb the movement of the joints without being damaged, while reliably sealing the joints. Joint sealing can be carried out in several ways:
In new buildings, injection hoses and swelling sealings are installed in construction joints, while sealing tapes are used for external strip-shaped joint sealing.
Injection material is often used for the remedial sealing of construction and expansion joints. Injection materials based on polyurethane, which react with limited expansion, or based on polyacrylic, which have very good expansion and adhesive properties.
Our products for joint filling and joint sealing
- WEBAC® Injection Tube: In combination with WEBAC injection resins WEBAC injection tubes are a flexible and reliable system for sealing construction joints in concrete constructions. They are also suitable for the structural bonding of concrete elements. In addition, WEBAC injection tubes are used for the post-construction sealing of joint tapes in expansion joints for additional stabilization. Injection tubes can also be used for the sealing of joint plates in construction joints in concrete. An injection hose can be installed quickly and easily at all levels and angles and ensures minimal consumption of injection resin thanks to optimum hose dimensioning.
- WEBAC® Bentonite Swelling Tape: WEBAC bentonite swelling tapes are specially designed for sealing construction joints in in-situ concrete. Thanks to its self-injecting properties bentonite swelling tape is capable of reliably sealing cracks, gravel nests and voids. With the bentonite swelling tapes, no separation and therefore no washing out of the joint is possible.
- WEBAC® Polymer Swelling Tape: In contrast to bentonite swelling tape WEBAC polymer swelling tape is permanently dimensionally stable. It is used to seal construction joints in concrete and reinforced concrete construction against soil moisture, non-pressing and pressing water as well as for joint sealing in precast concrete construction and for expansion joint repair. Polymer swelling tape is characterized by reversible swelling behaviour and excellent chemical resistance.
- WEBAC® Sealing Tape: The external joint tape is ideal for water pressure-tight sealing of construction joints and crack control joints in concrete. Precast concrete parts and element walls are also sealed with the permanently elastic and age-resistant sealing tape, for example in external wall sealing in residential construction.
- WEBAC Injection Resins: PU injection resins are suitable for all types of masonry and concrete constructions. PU resins have a capillary-clogging, permanent sealing effect. PUR injection resins of the new generation are characterized by high flexural and compressive strength. This also enables force-fit connections in concrete and masonry structures.
WEBAC Acrylate Gels: WEBAC acrylate gels are injection agents with a very low viscosity. This makes WEBAC injection gel the ideal solution for sealing components in contact with the ground. Low-viscosity injection gels can also be used within a generally open-pored building structure as an surface sealing against penetrating moisture. Acrylic gels are used, for example, for shaft, channel or tunnel sealing and are suitable for the subsequent sealing of ground-covered structural, expansion and shaft joints.
In combination with WEBAC Bseal I, WEBAC 240 is the basis for a multifunctional modular system that enables various special applications, such as the sealing of damaged membrane and foil sealings or annular gaps in tubbing construction.
